As far as eating goes, it wasn't HALF bad but I'm going to need to make some adjustments. First of all, waking up early is key to eating throughout the day. I woke up at 11 and ate a late breakfast, which led to a late lunch, late snacks and very late dinner. So now I have to make sure I stay up till 1a.m. because according to the program, you need to stop eating 3 hours before bedtime and I ate at 10pm. As much as I hate to wake up early, for the entire eating schedule to make sense it looks like I'm going to have to change my sleep schedule too. As far as the diet itself, it was tough only because I'm eating smaller portions and I'm used to eating monster-size dishes of everything. The meals themselves were delicious, and even though I was eating every 3-4 hours, I still felt hungry since I usually just eat almost every hour of the day until I'm overstuffed. I also have a headache, and I think it's because I didn't really consume much sugar for the day compared to the insane amount I usually take in. Another problem with the food is I only bought about 10 ingredients, assuming my house had everything else I would need, but it really doesn't, so I'm going to have to adjust what I buy and get more versatile ingredients. Anyway, since you're probably curious, here is what I ate today:
Breakfast:
-1 packet unflavored oatmeal (made with water not milk) with fresh blueberries
Lunch:
-Veggie burger, lettuce, tomatoes, onions & ketchup in a whole wheat wrap
Snack:
-Greek yogurt (strawberry flavor)
Dinner:
-Turkey stir fry (turkey, green beans, broccoli, carrots and soy sauce)
Snack:
-2 slices of whole wheat toast with peanut butter
Water Intake: 2 liters (I'm on my last glass now, once finished it will be 2 liters for the day).
I actually did really well considering I basically changed my diet completely in one day. Being at work was hard since everyone around me was eating chicken fingers, french fries, burgers & hot dogs. I guess I shouldn't be too jealous since that's pretty much all crap, but I've been so used to eating like that that of course it appeals to me! The hard part now is going to be sticking with it. I think the first few days will be easy since it's new and somewhat exciting. However at some point I'm going to be in situations where I'm around my friends either at a restaurant or social gathering and I know that is going to be tough for me. It's not hard to eat well when you're not tempted. Plus when you have time to prep and bring food with you, it's easier to eat what you've brought. I'm going to the poconos next weekend for 4 days, and I'm kind of dreading the food situation since everyone is going to be bringing food for the group, and I know someone is making baked ziti one night, pancakes one morning, and we're going to a restaurant for dinner one night. I can only hope that everyone is understanding and encourages me to eat healthy instead of indulging in the usual fare.
I have to work all day tomorrow, so tonight when I came home I made all of tomorrow's meals. I don't really cook often, but I like the idea of getting into the habit of learning my way around the kitchen and being able to make something on my own.
I'm really, really tired right now. Between the working out and the eating less, I'm really spent. Not to mention I spent half the day with a camera on my shoulder. But, this is all good so far. Granted it's only day 1, but now I only have 89 days to complete. I can do this!!! Alright I'm going to try to go occupy myself for another hour and fifteen minutes. It's actually not that long. I'm sure I can find something to do.
